Ellie entered Hollyoaks with a bang in late 2002. She was vibrant, attractive and popular with the men of Hollyoaks a fact which she revelled in. Previously Ellie had caused her family to suffer after dissapearing to Europe for months after falling out with her mother. Ellie prefered a care free lifestyle and ran from gamily commitments which were beggining to arise. Her family were please with her return though things were often far from ideal with frequent clashes between Ellie and her mother.

Ellie continued to live in the moment though having flings with most of Hollyoaks's male population. Ellie did settle down eventually though as she met up with Toby Mills, one of her brothers friends whom she had previously dated. Toby was bessotted with Ellie and their romance was rekinddled. Toby became increasingly jelous of Ellie though, especially with her relations with other guys and her partying lifestyle. He began to impose his will upon Ellie who suffered in silence.

Eventually the tensions between Ellie and Toby came to a head. The pair had married but their life together was far from happy. It also became apparent that Toby also had darker secrets which he had been concelling from all. Things began to unravel spectacualrily in early 2004 when it transpired that Toby had murded a dozen or so people in a short period of time and was the chester serial killer that was striking fear into the residents of Hollyoaks. To complicate matters further Ellie's brother Dan became involved and was wrongly accused of carrying out the murders. Ellie struggled to come to terms with her husbands crimes and allowed Dan to be sent to prison witholding the truth from all. Dan was released eventually but Ellie's lack of support for her brother and refusal to tell the truth aliented her from her family and most of Hollyoaks.

Slowly things began to improve for Ellie. Her personality took a knock though and she became more withdrawn, often staying at home and arguing with her family who continued to ignore and reject her. After a hard few months Ellie finally had enough of life in Chester and moved on. Her departure was fairly low key though and there is alway a possibility she may return to Hollyoaks after taking time to recover from a difficult few years.
