The Plot
Jennifer stars alongside comedian Jim Carey as Grace Connelly in this funny and original movie about a man who is given the powers of God.
Jim Carey plays the role of Bruce Nolan, a local journalist who is waiting for his big break. He tries his best to move up the ladder and get the coveted position of anchor, which is available thanks to one of the other anchors retiring. Despite being sure of success he's crestfallen when he's beaten to it by Evan Baxter (Steve Carell) matters are made worse when things continue to go wrong for Bruce. This series of mishaps leads Bruce to challenge God, whom he blames for his continual bad luck.
Much to the surprise of Bruce, God (Morgan Freeman) responds to him and gives Bruce his powers with the assertian that since Bruce feels God is doing such a poor job he should give it a go. Bruce spends time righting his own live but things begin to catch up again as he has to deal with the prayers of the world. He finds out that granting everyone their wishes is not the best way to go about being God.
Eventually Bruce realises that he needs to work with people to get through in live. His relationship Grace has been severly damaged with recent events but he vowes to win her back. He also begins to show compassion towards others, which may have been lacking before his Godly experience.
